Cracked time...again...: http://www.cracked.com/article_19687_6- ... inema.html
What if we told you that the man behind some of the cheapest, crappiest and most ridiculously named movies ever made (like Sharktopus, Dinoshark, Piranhaconda and 395 others) is also directly responsible for classics like The Godfather, Taxi Driver and Terminator 2?

How is that possible, you ask? Because the acclaimed directors behind those pictures all got their start making B movies with Roger Corman, and it changed the course of their careers.
After graduating from UCLA, it didn't take too long for young It was perhaps this complete lack of shame that got Coppola the attention of Roger Corman, who hired him to "Americanize" a Russian sci-fi film he'd acquired the rights to. Part of Coppola's job was to redub the dialogue, even though he had no idea what the Russian actors were saying, which meant he had to come up with an entirely new plot from scratch. Corman also asked him to replace all the names in the credits with American-sounding ones and shoot inexplicable scenes of foam monsters duking it out on the moon. Coppola said yes to all these things.
The coffee had been steadily growing more and more execrable for the space of three weeks, till at last it had ceased to be coffee altogether and had assumed the nature of mere discolored water — so this person said. He said it was so weak that it was transparent an inch in depth around the edge of the cup. As he approached the table one morning he saw the transparent edge — by means of his extraordinary vision long before he got to his seat. He went back and complained in a high-handed way to Capt. Duncan. He said the coffee was disgraceful. The Captain showed his. It seemed tolerably good. The incipient mutineer was more outraged than ever, then, at what he denounced as the partiality shown the captain’s table over the other tables in the ship. He flourished back and got his cup and set it down triumphantly, and said:

“Just try that mixture once, Captain Duncan.”

He smelt it — tasted it — smiled benignantly — then said:

“It is inferior — for coffee — but it is pretty fair tea.”

Has your mom ever called in a panic, saying the computer was displaying a weird error message and that she hurried and unplugged it just to be safe--and then dunked it in the bathtub so it wouldn't burn the house down?

It makes you realize that, to some people, a computer is still a terrifying box of mysteries. Well, we think Hollywood writers have those people in mind when they portray laptop computers doing everything short of blowing up the moon.

After all, according to the movies...
http://www.cracked.com/article_15229_5- ... an-do.html

But that's why it's so baffling when Hollywood fucks up every scene involving computers or video games. They not only get everything wrong, but give us the most insulting bullshit imaginable on details it would have taken two minutes to Google. So we wind up with scenes like this ...

Beards are awesome, aren’t they? The right kind of beard can make any man into… well, a slightly hairier man, but theoretically a much more awesome man. Beards seem pretty intrinsically linked with sci-fi and fantasy, too: there are some kinds of facial hair that just scream “this is the future!” while “beardy” has been used as an adjective to suggest excessive nerdiness.

We, of course, would never use “beard” in a pejorative sense, ever. Because, as previously mentioned, beards are awesome. Here are the ten best beards in all of sci-fi and fantasy:
